He Loves Me Like Jesus Does

When he came into my life, I was battered and bruised. I had made a series of bad decisions, and I was beaten down by the consequences of my choices. I felt unworthy, but he saw something good in me that I will never understand. He became my friend, and then my lifeline. He is a rock that I can depend on even during the toughest storms of my life. He works harder than anyone I’ve ever known. His first priority is to make sure that my needs are met.  He isn’t concerned with himself. He gives me everything, and so many times I’ve given him nothing in return.

He’s a calming presence when I’m experiencing turmoil. He’s the gray to my black and white view of life. He’s on my side, even when I’m wrong. He knows me better than I know myself. He’s my encourager. When I want to quit, I think of him, and all that he has done for me, and I push a little further.  His patience with me is never ending. He’s the first to apologize, even when I’m the one at fault.

I like to think that I’m strong, but really….  he’s the strong one. He’s carried me through our marriage, and all of the highs and lows of our life together. I pray that one day, I’ll be worthy of his love, but I know that I’ll never be deserving of this man that God has so graciously given to me.

* I wrote this for my husband, and gave it to him on Christmas morning. I didn't have a lot of material gifts for him. I think that he liked this one the best of all.
